10 Ways to Hygge at Home for the Holidays
1. Flannel: Flannel shirts, flannel sheets, flannel scarves, flannel mittens. Anything flannel immediately brings on the cozy.
2. Candles: Candles are amazing year-round, but there's something extra special about a pine-scented/fire-scented candle. It can transport you back in time.
3. Firewood: A wood-burning fire. Can it get any cozier? (No fireplace? See number 2 for acceptable substitutes. We're also big fans of any fireplace DVD you can get your hands on.)
4. Throw pillows: Huggable throw pillows make every night a cozy night. Add in some extra hygge with a Danish Winter-themed throw pillow (this one features a photo of a canal in Copenhagen during the Christmas season).
5. Handmade journals: Any journal will do, but add a touch of handmade to inspire the hygge muse within.
6. Comfy Couch: (and a super comfy blanket + Netflix/Hulu/HBO/Book/Kindle/Cat/etc/etc = ultimate hygge
7. Vintage Books: Make a run to your local used bookstore and find some vintage books for an added dose of nostalgic coziness to your shelves
8. French Press: Mmmm coffee. Slow down your morning and substitute your drip coffee for a french press for a Danish morning full of hygge.
9. Cozy Hat: Cozy hat = cozy head = cozy human
10. Cat Snow Globe: Umm... a Snow Globe. With a Cat. Sitting on Books. AMAZING. Can it get any cozier? (We also highly recommend substituting the snow globe cat for a real life cat and real life books and real life snow.)
